The Review of Education in Prison was published on 18th May, to coincide with the Queen’s Speech at the State Opening of Parliament.
ABCC has been working with the Prisoners’ Education Trust on this subject, and many of our Member Colleges gave evidence to the enquiry that led to this publication, so we are deeply interested to see it.

We are particularly interested in Chapter 4 of the Review, which deals with higher-level learning. To quote –
“Education should be aspirational. It must offer a learning journey that is truly transformational and enables progression to higher levels. These include industry- standard vocational qualifications at Level 3 and above as well as university degrees. There should be arrangements in place in prisons to support prospective learners in making applications for such courses, and with the practicalities of studying via distance-learning.”
